Welcome to Hush Maderas Website.

Vision & Mission

Hush Maderas is eco-friendly, collaborative and in-touch with the beautiful nature that surrounds us. We provide “Barefoot Luxury”; high-quality service with a down-to-earth attitude. We build bridges between local culture and the international clientele that comes through our doors. We facilitate relaxation, exploration and adventure through our activities, culinary experiences and hospitality.

We pride ourselves on practicing solar efficiency, water conservation and repurposing. Recycling is still a new process out here in the jungle. Hush Maderas is partaking in starting up a recycling and no-plastic program together with other business here in San Juan del Sur.

Until then, we’re separating our disposed materials into plastic, glass and green waste. We bury the organics in our garden to evolve back into the earth. The plastic bottles and tin cans are collected by one of the locals who recycles them by hand. We re-purpose usable glass items to make crafts or give them to a neighbor who is making his house out of recycled materials. You will even find Flor de Cana bottles lining the shower walls to create a decorative and unique design.
We also love to organise beach clean-ups and safe the ocean from the plastic waste.

Hush Maderas also tries to give back to the local community. Short after opening the hotel in 2018, the situation in Nicaragua rapidly escalated. Two months of unrest in Nicaragua made that tourists stayed away and most businesses closed up. Thousands of Nicaraguans lost their jobs. We decided to stay open to keep all of our staff employed. They’ve been the sole income in their whole family since the crisis. When things start to build back up in Nicaragua and tourisms returns, we envision to help the impoverished in our neighborhood. We believe development must begin at the grassroots level via long-term partnerships and education, so we will strive to collaborate with our local friends to identify needs and work together to enhance the beautiful Nicargua.
